Empowering Women of Oral Cultures with the
Memorized Word of God in Story
Women form a majority of non-reading societies. They are often the least educated and the most marginalized of their people groups. The missions world has not addressed this huge population sector in a significant way. Women of these cultures have received information for millennia through oral tradition, singing and dancing the stories at ceremonies. Tradition, values and belief systems learned orally from childhood shape these women, modify their behavior and shape their destiny.
Biblical narrative is a key to empowering women of oral cultures. Scripture stories provide encouragement, change of worldview, confrontation of false religion, assurance of truth, conviction of sin, hope and comfort and answers to life issues, problems and needs.
Bridges for Women training features 120 stories of women in Bible times in 9 collections.
